Chapter Four

SEED FAITH, TIME, AND THE HARVEST

WHEN WE START living in God’s realm of financial increase, it is important to understand that much of what we do in the kingdom is based on seed faith—faith that is a result of the seeds that we sow. A verse that establishes this principle is found in Genesis. If we take a look at Genesis 8:22, it says, “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” There is always going to be seedtime and harvest. This plays a part in our lives. There will be times when we are going to sow seed; there is going to be a span of time after the seed is sown; and then we are going to reap a harvest. This is a promise from God. The promise is that if you sow seed and you are patient enough to wait for that seed to germinate, take root, and begin to produce after its own kind, there will be a harvest. Generally, people do not like to wait for the time that it takes the seed to germinate, take root, and begin to sprout above the ground.

If we observe the natural process of a seed coming to maturity, there are many stages taking place underground that are unseen before the seed sprouts above the ground. Because we cannot see what is going on underground, we think that there is nothing happening. However, as we have confidence and trust in God, we are assured that according to the principle above, there is going to be a harvest. Now, we have to trust God and have confidence as we wait patiently to see the harvest. But it is sure that if we do not sow seed, we can’t expect to see a harvest.

We are talking about a dynamic principle in the Word of God. A principle works no matter who is following it or working it. God’s principles do not change. Psalm 105:8 states, “He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.” God remembers what He promises and what has been written in His Word. Therefore, the principles in His Word do not change. Once God says it, it does not change. This is one of the reasons why we can have so much faith and confidence in Him and His Word. Deuteronomy 7:9 states, “Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.”

God’s principles work relational to relational, all things being equal. They do not pertain only to a farmer sowing seed for a food harvest. Galatians 6:7–8 states, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
